Antique Car Museum Coming to Newport

June 27th, 2014 by billfarrell

The City of Newport, Rhode Island’s Zoning Board of Review has recently given unanimous approval to a special use permit for the owners of the Audrain Building, 220-230 Bellevue Avenue to establish an antique car museum on the first floor of the building. The building is currently sheathed in white plastic and is undergoing major restoration and renovation. The museum is expected to open sometime in 2014. The new owners of the building have about 100 antique cars that they plan to rotate in and out of the museum.

The building itself is historical in nature and is being restored to its former glory by its owners. The building on Bellevue Avenue was designed by New York architect Bruce Price whose most famous building is the huge Chateau Frontenac Hotel that dominates the Quebec City skyline. Will post more as information becomes available. stay tuned this should be a very exciting location to visit.
